❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you might be wondering about Server Setup Bot.

What is Server Setup Bot?

It's a tool that builds out a Discord server for you. You log in with Discord, pick from a set of standard roles and channels (or customize your own), choose one of your servers, and the bot creates everything in a couple of clicks.

Is it safe? What can it access?

Logging in uses only the identify and guilds OAuth scopes — we can see your username and the list of servers you're in, nothing more. We never read your messages and never post on your behalf. You can only build in servers where you have the Administrator or Manage Server permission.

Why don't I see my server in the list?

Two reasons: either you don't have Manage Server / Admin there, or the bot hasn't been added yet. Servers you manage that are missing the bot appear under "Invite the bot" — click to add it, then refresh.

What does "Lock down @everyone" do?

It rewrites the base @everyone role to a safe set of permissions, removing the ability to ping @everyone/@here, create invites, or add/manage channels, roles, and webhooks. Normal chatting and voice still work through the Member role.

Will it delete my existing channels?

No. Building is additive — it only creates new roles and channels. The one exception is the @everyone hardening, which overwrites that role's permissions (you can turn it off before building).

Can I customize the roles and channels?

Yes — open the Edit presets tab to add, edit, or remove roles and channel groups, set colors, emojis, permissions, and more. Your changes are saved and used on your next build.

How do I auto-assign a role when people join?

In the Edit tab, turn on "Auto-assign a role when someone joins". This needs the Server Members Intent enabled for the bot; if it's off, the toggle is disabled until that's turned on.
